  • Rabbit Feeding Guidelines

Small animals (such as rabbits) are herbivores that thrive on a grass-led, plant based diet. In the wild, rabbits have access to different foods - which is why its essential that we replicate this inside our homes.

A healthy rabbit diet should consist of:

    • 80 - 90% of premium, dust extracted hay

    • 5 - 10% of rabbit safe pellets

    • 5 - 10% of leafy, green vegetables

Unlimited amounts of hay should be offered to your rabbit's and at free choice. By replenishing hay frequently, it will help to keep your rabbit's digestive and dental function happy and healthy.

  • Which Hay Types Can I Feed My Rabbit?

There are a variety of hay types suitable to rabbits, which all vary in different tastes and textures. Suitable rabbit feeding hays include:

    • Timothy Hay

    • Meadow Hay

    • Ryegrass Hay

    • Alfalfa Hay (Please refer to our Alfalfa product page for more feeding information)

Hay is a vital component in your small pet's diet as it's a main source of any key nutrients that they need. At HayDay, you can rest assured that our hay is premium quality, barn dried and dust extracted for happy and healthy pets!

  • How To Store Rabbit Hay

Keeping your rabbit's hay fresh is key, in terms of preserving its quality and to keep your small animals safe. So when storing our barn dried, fresh hay - we'd recommend:

    1. Storing hay in a cool and dark place which is well ventilated

    2. Ensure your hay can breathe (our boxes are perfect for this!)

Storing your hay in these recommended conditions will help prevent mould and stop it from spoiling.
