Collection: Guinea Pig Hay

Premium Hay For Guinea Pigs

Forage (grass and/or hay) should represent the majority of a guinea pigs diet (~80%) in order to maintain healthy digestive and dental function. Therefore, hay can be fed ad lib either as the sole forage source or alongside fresh grass.

  • Feeding Guidelines for Guinea Pigs

For small herbivores that are designed to thrive on a plant-based diet, encouraging adequate forage consumption is key. Ensuring they are eating sufficient quantities of hay is essential to ensuring dental and digestive function.

    Feeding guide for guinea pigs

A healthy guinea pig diet should consist of:

    • 80 to 90% of premium quality hay

    • 5 to 10% of guinea pig-specific pellets (particularly those rich in vitamin C)

    • 5 to 10% of vegetables

    How much to feed

In terms of quantities, free choice is preferable with a minimum of 90-100g per day for an adult guinea pig as a guide.

Unlimited amounts of hay should be offered to your guinea pigs and at free choice. By replenishing hay frequently, it will help to keep your guinea pig's digestive and dental function happy and healthy.

    Feeding directions

Be sure to remove any uneaten or spoiled hay daily and feed alongside a suitable species-specific pelleted food fed at the recommended rates. Contamination of hay can be reduced by presenting it in bags, cubes or other safe hay feeders. Clean fresh water should be available at all times and fresh vegetables provided daily.
